Underwater Lily by Bob Wall

I stared at this picture trying to figure out what was catching my eye besides the flower being completely under water. Then I realized; I was seeing stems under water, out of the water, and reflected in the water. Kinda adds an eerie effect to the photo. Also, the center of the flower reminds me of the sea anemone shots I have taken.

I’ll shoot anything that catches my eye, but I love it when somebody says “I never looked at it that way before” or even just a little “ooooh”. If I can make you stop and say “hmm”, that’s the best. I normally use minimal processing; a little bump in color and/or contrast, maybe a little cropping. But sometimes I just can’t resist the urge to play with an image.

    Really nice work.
Very spiritual. Not even sure if that’s the right word… there’s just something about this image. Etheral might be the right word.

  • Ethereal works even better than eerie. Thanks Matt.

  • I just noticed you are from Germany. I spent several years in Germany, mostly in Heidelberg and Butzbach. I love Heidelberg. Never made it to Berlin though. I almost did once, but that’s a long story. I’ll have to go spend some time with your pics reminiscing.
