I was told that one way to tell the status of a church in Sao Joao Del Rei, Brazil is by how ornate the main entry is. This entryway is one of the most ornate I found.

In this town of approximately 80,000, there are over 70 churches in town; from very small and plain, to large and ornate. This isn’t the largest or fanciest church in town, but it is close.
