Introducing leggings. You’ll never run out of inspiration.

San Francisco acquires these old streetcars (I don’t know if they buy them, or if they are donated; maybe both) from cities around the world, then refurbishes them and puts them back into service. This fine example is from our mates in Oz. Melbourne to be specific.

This car was running down Market to The Embarcadero, then up to Fisherman’s Wharf.

I’ll shoot anything that catches my eye, but I love it when somebody says “I never looked at it that way before” or even just a little “ooooh”. If I can make you stop and say “hmm”, that’s the best. I normally use minimal processing; a little bump in color and/or contrast, maybe a little cropping. But sometimes I just can’t resist the urge to play with an image.

Ground transportation vehicles built prior to and including 1949
    Your cohosts,

  • Not positive this streetcar was built prior to 1949, but it sure does look that old.

What a beauty – we used to have streetcars in Copenhagen when i was a child :o)

  • Thanks, and for the favorite. I used to ride these in Frankfurt and Munich. Rode some in San Francisco many years ago, but they were the regular ones SF Muni was using.

I recognised this ‘W Class’ tram, as I live in the city were they used to be everyday. Sadly, they are almost extinct here and us ‘Melbournites’ will have to visit San Francisco to relive our history. Sad in a way, but thats progress!
