I’ve been wanting to go to Long Jetty for a while now and finally decided yesterday was the day. So I packed my trusty 7D and tripod and headed north. Two hours and many kilometres later I arrived. A bit early for sunset but I was hoping to be early rather than late, for obvious reasons. As I had a late breakfast and had skipped lunch I was rather peckish so went and found some yum yum food to soothe the savage beast. I drove back to the jetty, parked and consumed my tasty treats.

While sitting there eating a black van drove slowly past my car and parked a bit up from me. It had a sticker on the back advertising some sort of studio. Photographers! WTF?? Then two white vintage cars pulled up in front of me and behind the van. Dammit, I thought, just my luck, these peeps are going to have their wedding photos taken on MY pier at sunset and get in the way of MY photos. So I sat there and watched the photogs (there were 2 of them) guide the bridal party to the pier, make the peeps walk up and down etc. Then it was all over. They didn’t wait for the good light! They gave the bridal party some champers, took a few snaps of the bridal cars and then just chatted to the bridal party. A little bit shocked I got out of my car and walked around to see which would be the best spot to take my photos. I set up and started snapping. I kept turning around expecting the photogs to guide their lambs to the slaughter but it wasn’t to be. No brilliant sunset photos for this bridal party! Oh, no! The photogs then left the bridal party to drink and went on their merry way in their black van. And I was left (with a few other people) there to enjoy the light show.

staggering shot – colours are superb, the scale is epic and I love how the jetty is perfectly placed to showcase how grand the sky is (I definitely wouldn’t mind having, say, ten of these – one to keep and nine for my favourite 9 other people!)

  • Thanks very much Berndt for your great comment. I’ll try not to delete it this time like I did with the last one. :-(
LOL! You can buy it here on RB or HERE and Fine Art America or HERE at 500px Take yer pick! ;-) I’ll leave it off my zAzzle account for the time being. ;-)
