She is so sweet and very beautiful. She looks as if she enjoyed her bath. I enjoyed your wonderful story Bryan :))

  • Thanks Sharon. Ollie loves her baths. Sometimes she gets one of her toys and throws it into the bath with her. Then she plays ith it for a bit, then throws it out of teh bath and chases it around the top of her cage until she either pushes it off or throws it off. Then she’ll run back to the high side of the bath and jump into it again.

How sweet, she sounds like a delightful child. These exotic birds are wonderfully intelligent and their playful antics are so funny. Mahalo for your kind reply Bryan.

    Aloha ’oe
    Sharon

  • Hi Sharon,

You’re welcome, although, Ollie isn’t exotic for us, she’s one of the native birds of Australia and a cousin to the Rainbow Lorikeets that abound in Sydney.

A fact most people don’t know about this intelligent and playful birds is that they don’t eat seeds. The live off pollen from the native flowers. If I bring some native flowers home for Ollie she goes mad as soon as she sees them and won’t stop squawking and carrying on until I put the on top of her cage. She then starts into them and will say “Thank you” a hundred times and also “I love you” a simialr amount of times. She is a real person, not just a bird.

    oh how beautiful !!

  • Thanks Lucinda, she is beautiful and also a character, she also bites sometimes when she’s fed-up or tired and it’s hard to tell when it’s going to happen. She got me a few nights ago! She draws blood too. Look at the beak, it’s very hard and sharp and sinks easily into soft flech. These birds are not for the faint hearted. ;-)
