‘Dorrigo’, our very own noble beast (Labrador and Border Collie cross), who personally selected us for his ‘pack’, from his pen at the local Humane Society. ‘Dorrigo Dog’ to be exact. Alliteration is very important to the Dog family.
I always assumed the name was Australian Aboriginal for ’World’s best puppy’, but it turns out it really means ‘stringybark tree’ … oh well. (And his bark is anything but stringy!)
This image has been published to show you the original raw material that my wonderful and immensely talented friend,
MATT MAWSON, was working from to create this
amazing vector image. (I insisted on the cigar after seeing it used by Matt previously.)
It now forms part of his remarkable ‘mutts and pups’ series. They all make for a superb calendar gift if you too are one of that very rare breed … a dog lover (or happen to know someone who is).
The only other thing I can think to say about Matt and his wonderful generosity of spirit and imagination is that … there is no need to ‘want to be’ … he IS the person his dogs think he is.
And incidentally for those interested, this National Park of immense, World Heritage listed value, beauty … and cuteness … is what originally inspired Dorrigo’s name. It forms part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia.
The link is obvious to just about everyone immediately – ‘rainforest’ … ‘water dog’ !!!
Matt’s vector image of this photograph was a featured work of the Pierre Bézier Fans | The Pen Tool group in August 2009.

I agree 100% with you Bruce…he is great!!!
The expression on Dorrigo’s face by the way, is not sad, it simply translates as ‘put the damn camera down and let’s play!!’ “Time’s a wasting!”
