really good work well done
aglaia b
this is just beautiful! it almost feels like two paintings. the frame within the frame really sets it off nicely! ;-)
Robert Reeves replied
thank you, Aglaia! this was a joy and pain to work on. but then again it wouldn’t be good if the two weren’t mixed a little, eh? thank you so much.

Love your Work Brother rabbit

Cool art work – love the way you have framed the bridge.
Robert Reeves replied
Thanks, Dave.
Jean M. Laffitau
Another brilliant piece of art!
Robert Reeves replied
thanks, Jean!
great to see you again.
RavenSoul
Your work is very detailed and colorful. Love it!
Robert Reeves replied
thanks, RavenSoul. not so detailed closeup tho. the reduction compresses the brushwork and makes it look cleaner than it is. lots of paint blobs and brushy brush work. truth be told i’m a sloppy painter. couldn’t be any other way tho ~8)
RavenSoul
LOL Well Sloppy sure looks clean! Whatever works!

Wow, your work is sensational :)

this is stunning, moody and with has just the right amount of quirk =)
Good stuff, brotherabbit
Robert Reeves replied
sounds like a good description of me… minus the “stunning” part ~8)
thank you, LV.
cheers!

Makes me feel like sipping wine, looking at that view. Great lighting on the bridge. Dontcha love the briefs you get from clients sometimes!
Robert Reeves replied
Thank You!
ya, i liked how that part came out too. the compression really kills this one tho. it’s quite large.
Oh boy, people come up w/ some good ones. no doubt.

Love this1 love the colours and the DOF. really nice!
Robert Reeves replied
Thank you, Leisl! sorry tho.. what’s DOF? i’m a little dense in the AM.
Liesl Yvette W...

Tahnja

Robert Reeves
thank you so much, Tahnja! lovely to hear from you again. yes, i really wrestled w/ the perspective on this one. hard to at this size.

Just one look at this gorgeous painting makes me long to curl up in that chair, legs crossed, and take in that stunning view; with a pen in my hand, of course :-) You have such an ability to place me right there, as you did in Brugge. Such beautiful colours and warmth…..I also found the title enigmatic and inspiring (drawn to the words, as always) and am wondering about Nicole, and just how she came to be there.
As for having a sexual-religious experience in a chocolate factory – makes perfect sense to me!
Robert Reeves
i think that’s the best comment i’ve ever gotten. figures it’d come by way of your words, Bell. Sadly enough Miss Nicole was there on business. She always manages to find a way to work in a good dose of pleasure tho.
Thank You!
Cheers

brotherabbit, i have a foil-wrapped piece of ghirardelli chocolate in my freezer that i can’t ever do anything but keep – it’s full of the height ashbury, that colour golden, the mermaid fountain i’ve thrown more wish-laden coins into than i care to count and a busking guitarist named caroline whose hands i spent countless toffee-coloured franciscan afternoons mesmerised by. and this work of yours took me right back to all of these moments and the memory of me standing near a view very similar to this one when i was a girl and wondering where all those people left their hearts, as the song says. i love the lighting in your work… it feels as though everything here is drawn to the balcony… and ‘nicole’ is just around the corner, just there, quietly soaking up the view. beautiful beautiful stuff.
bellmusker
Holly my girl, let’s grab that chocolate in your freezer and go find the Brother…...let’s take him to San Francisco and we three can weave our joy into paint and ink and laughter. And then we’ll go find Nicole! I’m still so intrigued by her….
I often come back here to imagine the taste of the air from this balcony. You sure do work some special magic with your art, my friend. Beautiful indeed.
Robert Reeves replied
Best Idea Ever.
You make me blush, Bell. A rarity for me indeed.
As for Miss Nicole, she’s here in Iowa. Not far from me. This piece adorns her boudoir if I’m not mistaken.
