This was shot in an amazing house, it was caught in a time capsule….the property was recently sold and the furniture sold off too, this shoot is all that remains. I wanted to look back, not through the rose coloured glasses we usually gaze back with, but to look at the tension that lies just below the surface. The underlying theme is incredible, however, what’s more incredible is the actual execution of the image… what an amazing space complete with high end period furniture. The lighting is so exquisite and there are so many focal points for the eye to be drawn into. Exceptional image to say the least! Styling and lighting are sheer perfection. Masterpiece in my book!
The tension is so subtle yet that is what makes it so strong. The hand on the shoulder while he is looking away is the key to capturing the essence of the image. At first I thought this may have been a father giving his daughter’s boyfriend ‘the talk’ – but the ’Post magazine throws me a little, I get the feeling there is something a little more sinister is unfolding. The art direction, colour palette and lighting just blow my mind. Truly inspiring art.
