Leaving

Leaving by Bronek Kozka

Leaving

This was part of this shoot in an amazing house, it was caught in a time capsule….the property was recently sold and the furniture sold off too, this shoot is all that remains. I wanted to look back, not through the rose coloured glasses we usually gaze back with, but to look at the tension that lies just below the surface. The 50’s and early 60’s have this all to perfect image, surface image that is…

Leaving belongs to the following groups:

Nice – though the description doesn’t really match the image – would be nice to have a narrative closer to what’s going on visually.

That is the best shot ever… so much mood and I can see a very familar 57 cadillac windshield present… great work Bronek, probably one of my favourite images… almost David Lynch meets Gregory Crewdson, great series of work and absolutley briliant execution!

This does capture for me the perfect outer shell and underlying tensions – very powerful!

Terrific piece! Love the light so much, love the muted detail of the car mergin into the dense background. Excellent.

Love the use of space in this one… light and execution are superb. I’m pleased you titled this leaving as at first I thought it was them arriving… It explains the facial expressions as they seem to be opposite with the girl looking quite puzzled by the events that took place and the guy a little more focused…. I’m dying to know what was said at that flippin’ dinner table!!!!. Superb series Bronek.

Seeing the before shots made this shot perfect. Neither have relaxed from dinner’s tension. Maybe she’s too embarassed over her father’s performance before and during dinner. He might be thinking he needs to second guess how important it was to try to get to second base after all. Neither wants to break the silence. Love it! Perfect.

the light quality is very much like bill henson but it reminds me of someone else too and i cant remember who it was. I’m wondering if it was one of the stills from Patricia Piccinini’s Sandman.
