Laundrette No#10
This is from a series of Laundrettes around Melbourne (Australia). I wanted to look at, and document these places. They are slowly but surely disappearing, being renovated or re-developed into bars cafes etc. I am also interested in these spaces as they are one of the few areas where it is acceptable to be by ones self…no ones eyes are raised by someone sitting alone in a laundrette, as they can be when in a restaurant. There is also no expectation to engage fellow “washers” in conversation. The laundrette can be a place of solitude.
