This was shot in an amazing house, it was caught in a time capsule….the property was recently sold and the furniture sold off too, this shoot is all that remains. I wanted to look back, not through the rose coloured glasses we usually gaze back with, but to look at the tension that lies just below the surface. The 50’s and early 60’s have this all to perfect image, surface image that is…

This is so stunning, the art direction, concept and style… almost looks like you’ve invented a new medium here… can’t get over the way the furniture has come up, and the scenario is just exquisite… Brilliant masterpiece for me!

Shouldn’t there be a bowl with keys in it on that coffee table? hehehe
I just love the narrative that is underlying in all your work and how it looks so different to everything else I’ve seen.

Great image. Captures the “time” very well.
It is such a pity that we dont appreciate some things when we have them. Only upon reflection.

This set of shots is great, your use of lighting to pick out key elements in the shots really adds to the contrast in certain areas, mix that with the styling and art direction and the way you have graded/mapped these images tonally really makes them very special indeed. I agree with Paul when he said masterpiece….awesome !!

this is truly amazing! the lighting is incredible! i thought it was a painting.
however my only qualm: the metal thing on the left, i think it is a little distracting.
but still, top job!

Time capsule for sure! I love this series, the house, the decor, the architecture, and you have captured so many layers of emotion-just wonderful.

Fantastic job you did with this one, just splendid! As a child, I remember that era well, there was much more contentment then than now…..
shawhouse
Stunning and theatrical as hell. great capture & expressions. I love that the viewer can’t see the face of the man on the left, that we are left to fill in his reaction to the other man’s (barbed? awkward?) remark. The women’s reactions tell us that this is not a good moment. The decor is classic – an entire decade’s desperate cry for help. The pattern on the chairs repeated on the end table and whatever that thing is on the left is truly strange. The muted tones are ideal here. It’s as if the picture is trying it’s damnedest to look normal – this is the insane posing as the mundane. very cool image. spectacular work!

i like it :) for some reason it reminds me of divorce.. or lawyers.. or some sort of marital crisis.

Where would we be without the talent of exceptional photographers to capture the surreality of reality! Not to mention immortalising whole eras in a single shot! Talk about a thousand words!
Your styling is enviable..
elliewinds
incredible – every detail necessary to create the whole. it is the mirroring of body language in the men that stands out to me as a detail so important and so impressive that you ‘created’ it.
jemimalovesbigted

You didn’t happen to work on set design for Revolutionary Road? This image reminds of a scene in that movie. Great textures and colors.
