Dinner Time
This image has been shortlisted for the Moran Photographic Art Prize.
This was shot in an amazing house, it was caught in a time capsule….the property was recently sold and the furniture sold off too, this shoot is all that remains. I wanted to look back, not through the rose coloured glasses we usually gaze back with, but to look at the tension that lies just below the surface. The 50’s and early 60’s have this all to perfect image, surface image that is…

Lordy! The light on that brunettes hair is simply amazing. In fact, the light in general is absolutely stunning. You almost can’t believe it’s a photograph, it seems so much like a painting. Your models are in fact actors. The expressions are perfect. This has been so well put together. The styling is impeccable. Bloody brilliant

Bronek, sweet capture – this type of image was recently on show at the NGV from the Guggenheim, yours even more telling. I particularly love the boy/girl inquisition about to take place

SKVee, you are referring the the Gregory Crewdson shot yes? I can see why, it’s that strong narrative that runs alongside the image and makes you question. It’s the relationships between the characters, it’s the amazing light, it’s the choice of colours. GAH! Love it.

This looks like a still from a (rather disturbing) movie. I would so love to press the play button on this to see more of the scene unfold. Amazing work.

A true masterpiece, shot me back tp my childhood, I’m sitting at that table, and the room is very familiar, awakening forgotten memories and formative years.

It is strangly refreshing to see classical rendition of the scene like this, and also another one of this series.
What painting had done long time ago was took over by photograph. Like painting, which since then increasingly pursued its own identity by exploring nitch areas like line, color, plane and all the way to minimalism, photography also followed the suite. It is about time that we do some wholistic artworks, once again integrating all the elements of visual grammar.
I myself have been trying to create artwork along this line, and I am very pleased to find that there is a photographer who seems to share my thought. My comment, I hope, is not too way off the mark.

I don’t think I could say it any better than the others here. Jo hit it on the head straight from the get go. I also agree with Paul that this is a level of Photography to aspire to. This brings to mind the “Stepford Wives”. Another amazing image!

Words can’t express how amazing I think this image is. Everything about it is just beyond perfect, the lighting, the facial expressions, the way my eye flows so smoothly through each detail of the image and there is just something so delicate and pure yet sensual about the exposed skin on the brunettes back. Really stunning.

This is my fav image. Just love the subtle yet intense (you do this so well) interaction between all the characters. Love this style and your lighting is superb, sets an incredible mood that draws the viewer in I could and have looked at this images for hours… I’m so inspired by this series. Six Feet Under in the 60’s.

I want to be a fly on the wall to listen to their dinner conversation. To say this image is sensational is accurate. LOL. Instant fave. Well, Well done.

the tension you’ve created between the father/son (?) is incredible. the images as a whole are fantastic – the story is so strong and the emotion – i look at the son and start to cringe a little for him.

After looking at the models expressions, there does seem to be a little underlying tension. Very well captured and acted out.
