Claremont College, Hobart by Brett Rogers

Photographic Prints

My daughter attends Claremont College in Claremont, a northern suburb of Hobart. I visited the college prior to the start of term in January 2012 to attend to some administrative matters and, not being a school day, the campus was nearly deserted.

    Excellent work Brett!

  • Thanks, Carol. I always have some sort of film camera on me, whether it is a Rollei or a Contaflex, so when I saw this scene, sans people I wanted to make the most of it. Your very kind comment as always is cherished!

A wonderful shot Brett. Looks like a very nice campus.

  • Thanks, James, it does have a “modern” look doesn’t it? Thanks for your comment, you know I value them highly as I’m a beginner compared to your decades of experience! Am slowly improving, managed to edit a couple of shots in bed today, hoping to improve tomorrow, all for now

This has a great collection of converging shapes. I like the use of Kodak tri-x 400. On a sunny day it stops everything from being so ‘contrasty’.

  • Thanks so much Geoff. Fortunately the academic year hadn’t started so the location was almost deserted, which assisted no end to make this image.

I think you’ve found the best angle of the entire complex, this is just stunning!

  • Thanks, Greg, when I had to go in and pay some school fees, and the site was deserted, my policy of always having a camera on me paid off. Without hordes of students running around on the day, the bonus was no one cared a whit about the middle-aged guy with the weird camera, taking pics, either…
    Cheers mate,
