This set of sculpted emus (extinct Tasmanian Emus) may be found adjacent the Government House forecourt and entrance portico.
I made this photograph during the Governor’s official House open day in February 2012 with my 1970 Zeiss Ikon Contaflex S 35mm single lens reflex. The Contaflex was fitted with a magazine back loaded with Kodak’s classic Tri-X Panchromatic black and white film. Lens was a Carl Zeiss 50mm f/2.8 Tessar. Film processed in ILFORD ID-11 developer and ILFORD Rapid Fixer.

Brett, Very nicely done. Great combo Contaflex and Tri-X! James
Thanks so much James. I’m finding the Tri-X to be rather different to scan than the other B&W films I’m used to; think I’m starting to get the hang of it though. I have one or two other shots you may like hopefully, and some 120 also through the Rolleiflex.

Great composition and capture Brett. You did well to get a shot without people on open day.
Thanks Tony, your thoughtful comments are always welcome. It was quite late in the day when this was taken, probably after the official closing time of 4PM, but the staff were very good about waiting for hangers-on to depart. I grabbed a rather sweet image of the front of the house without anyone in shot I’ve been editing a little today; if I can get it sorted I’ll add it on, you may like it.
Thanks again mate
