Winter, Richmond Bridge, Tasmania by

This photograph was taken in Winter 2010 at the popular tourist destination of Richmond, a half an hour drive from Hobart. Occasionally images have been taken in the vicinity of the point from at which I took this photograph, however the Hassy’s square format makes for a less usual framing and perspective on this scene than most.

    Hey!
    I love this shot…

  • Thanks Greg, maybe I should use Reala more often.

Great to see this shot back again, Brett. I’ve always loved the lines that guild the eye in a very rolling, relaxed way. It’s a real treat to get lost in this one.

  • Thank you Geoff! Such a great comment. Perhaps I should try to overcome some of my prejudices and use a bit more colour negative. There are obvious advantages such as dynamic range, which really helped with the underneath of the bridge here. But colour tranny looks so good when you get it back! I have to confess, I am addicted to E6.
    Thanks for the favourite, too.
    Regards,
    Brett

The tones and lighting give this an exquisite painterly effect Brett. Excellent pov to capture the loverly old church as well as the bridge. Tony

  • Thank you so much Tony, I really do appreciate those kind words today. So pleased you enjoyed looking at it, because with such a popular location that is photographed so much, it’s always a challenge to come up with something good, isn’t it? Thanks for making it a favourite too Tony, that’s always appreciated.
    Regards,
    Brett

South East Australia’ is having a $20 challenge – ’Lets try something different’ and you can only enter a photo that has been nominated by someone else and I’m nominating you enter this photo into the challenge. Good luck!

  • Hi Chris and Liz, you are so very kind to put this shot forward for me. Thanks so much! I now have a dilemma as another photo of this beautiful bridge captured in Autumn is entered, so I’ll have to decide which one to enter. They’re both photos I really like so it’s a tough choice, but a good problem to have!

We really should catch up at some stage, all living near Hobart as we do. It would be quite pleasant to wander the market together one Saturday and you might enjoy the opportunity to have a look at some of the old or unusual equipment I use for my work…we should make that happen!
