I really put my heart and soul into this. It was more or less symbolic of what was me as a child emerging from pain. The feeling of breaking free from being a prisoner. From my own insecurities and self consciousness. Working hard to get to where i stand now. Yet still vulnerable.
Running from an abusive home that i can’t bring myself to describe without feeling numb and bewildered to this day.
I made this…. doll thing, it’s parts glued together with barbed wire i made, on a painted canvas. I wove little led lights around and through it. It lights up with a flick of a switch in the back of the canvas.
Original artwork still in my possession.

brilliant and spooky. i love how the faces seem to emerge like ghosts from the shadows. how was the background made? paint? scratchings? pastels?
i painted the background black then grabbed random metal things like forks and a dog grooming brush and just tore into it. lots of fun =)
i panted the 3 dollfaces in the background and dripped clear glue (real thick) over the faces to add some dimention.
the slugde dripping form the doll was a a mix of 2 different glues and paint.
