“Now remember, when things look bad and it looks like you’re not gonna make it, then you gotta get mean. I mean plumb, mad-dog mean. ‘Cause if you lose your head and you give up then you neither live nor win. That’s just the way it is.”

(“Josie Wales” from the film)

HDR ~ the HDR is hand-done. This entailed using around 6 layers of different tones for the background; adjusting each, in tone and colour to match with the layers either side. Each layer was then stitched together using an eraser tool.
The items included in the composition also had up to 6 layers…which were processed in the same way.

I finished the HDR photo view of the main street in Westward Ho! village, (North Devon, England…..) and saw Clint Eastwood standing there in the road, in my minds eye… a favourite hero of mine as a child…. He always played characters that refused to do bad blindly…a renegade! He would refuse to kill for no reason… He stood up to the baddies…and usually never drew his gun unless the “bad men” did first. He always had courage of steel in the face of evil… and nerves of a Deva.

My work is eclectic, pychological and profound and hopefully, attractive and beautiful for hanging on your wall… or sticking on your iPhone as a case… enjoy!

Good shot but please would you supply some more info on the HDR process you used. For example – how many exposures, software used, tonemapping, etc. Then please re-submit so that we can add the image to HDR Photography (3 Photos per 24hr-day) MUST INCLUDE HDR DETAILS. Thank you and you can delete this comment if you wish.

what a great picture this is Simon!

  • Thanks Chramiene…as I am sure you know, Westward Ho! still has the feel of the sort of “outcrop…remote out-post” that it was when it was created back in the late 1800s…Josie would have swung his poncho over his shoulder here coolly, but gladly…
