Pachydiplax longipennis (female)
Photographed on August 7, 2011.
I was in my Aunt Sue’s backyard in Opelousas, LA, USA, marveling at my son and God-daughter’s imaginations, when this stunning female glided in for a landing on the clothesline. A few minutes later, three of her friends arrived, including two females and one male (blue abdomen). The temperature was upwards of 95 F, which had the dashers striking myriad poses to cool themselves off.
And that’s when I ran inside to grab my tripod and macro lens!
