IAN'S GRANDSON JAMIE by Brian Towers

IAN'S GRANDSON JAMIE by

A portrait for a friend of his delightful grandson Jamie.

In virtually every face I paint I always find some beautiful features – often only discovered because one has to make such close observations – and that’s regardless of age or gender.

Watercolour, pastel and coloured pencils on Arches hot pressed paper.

Brilliant Brian, excellent portrait. Love the attention you gave to the highlights, particularly in the hair. Masterfully done.

  • It’s those highlights, especially the twinkles in the eyes, which are the payoff – the most enjoyable parts of painting. Along with that I love reflected light, although there isn’t much in this picture. Thanks Jim.

  • …or it could be the curry I had last night. You’re very kind Rose and coming from such a skilled artist your comment is especially appreciated.
