A portrait for a friend of his delightful grandson Jamie.
In virtually every face I paint I always find some beautiful features – often only discovered because one has to make such close observations – and that’s regardless of age or gender.
Watercolour, pastel and coloured pencils on Arches hot pressed paper.
Brilliant Brian, excellent portrait. Love the attention you gave to the highlights, particularly in the hair. Masterfully done.
It’s those highlights, especially the twinkles in the eyes, which are the payoff – the most enjoyable parts of painting. Along with that I love reflected light, although there isn’t much in this picture. Thanks Jim.
excellent portrait Brian…what a handsome young lad he is and you have drawn him perfectly.
You never fail to give an old guy such lovely encouragement Linda. Many thanks.

Fabulous and Stunning portrait Brian, every little detail is done with perfection.
I’ve just taken a quick look at your first page Noelene and what a delight. Discovering new people who have skills like yours is what makes RB such a great organisation. I’ll look forward to taking a longer look. Thank you.
