CROWNING GLORY - BUT TRICKY TO PAINT. by

This lovely lady asked for no flattery, but she didn’t need any. Barbara is a talented artist who produces wonderful glass pieces. Not sure how she’ll do it but she wants this portrait to embed in one of her glassy creations. Can’t wait to see it. I still find bald man much much easier to paint that ladies with hair which is often a challenge.

Watercolour, pastel and coloured pencils.

Just a wonderful portrait Brian, full of expression. Extremely well done.

  • I have to say that the originals are usually a fair bit better then the photos. Many thanks Jim, I appreciate your comment.

You do fantastic portraits Brian, and she is a beautiful lady.

  • Thank you Walter. I still find portraits the hardest of subjects, but enjoy the challenge.

An other gem from the Towermaster. Fantastic work Sir Brian

  • I have a cartoon somewhere where I’m standing with our dear old queen looking at my portrait of her and with me saying to the cat ‘How about that Tiddles, her majesty says I should be hung in the Tower.’ Good on yer Tom, and thanks.

Very, very good Brian. It turned out really well, I like the hair especially, the lowlights and highlights really make it real. Lovely expression too. Hope she likes it.

3 mediums on one piece of paper eh? Now that’s just showing off! :D

  • The mixed media is more a desperate try to find something to make it work rather than planned. The lady got it today and said she was delighted with it so I can breath easy now. Thanks for your kind words my friend, I greatly appreciate it.

Fantastic portrait Brian, those eyes are amazing, she looks like a very vibrant personality! Would love to see what she does with this!!

  • I first met Barbara when giving her the portrait – always an apprehensive time – but she was delighted with it. She is indeed a charming and vibrant lady. I think she wants to use the picture as a trade card for her glass work. Many thanks Alexandra.
