Welcome to my world

Brian Towers

Welcome to my world

I don’t use acrylic very much, mainly when I’m using an airbrush. I felt the urge to do another space scene and just had to get it out of the system. I shall now calm down and go back to landscapes, portraits and cartoons.

If those life-forms are welcoming humans to their planet, I wonder if they know what they’re letting themsleves in for…apart from the common cold!

acrylic and board.

Spectacular painting Brian. I imagine it must have been some experience painting it…...

  • Brian Towers replied

thanks for your kind comments Andrea – yes the mind dose tend to wonder and I get some strange looks doing these spacy scenes, but then who cares, it’s fun!

I’ve just been having a look at your portfolio and I do like you style; bright and humorous caticatures. Brian.

Beautifully composed, with supreme skill, Brian.

Your gallery is a feast for the ailing eye. Something for me to aspire to.

I’ve just finished looking at the paintings in a fantasy art book (Dick Jude). Stunning!
Even fantasy art using watercolour! My medium. What a challenge. Ah, mebbe one day.

I spend most of my time between Gateshead and Wooler and have walked on most of the hills in northumberland (God’s country)

Reading your bio, it’s amazing you took art up so late – I thought I’d left it too late!

HI brian. It’s great to see that some of RB’s older members are producing some great stuff, particularly when there’s plenty of experimenting going on! I thought I might be one of the older participants on RB but I’m only a trifling 62. So far I’ve only had one go at sci-fi stuff – (http://www.redbubble.com/people/enpassant/art/885109-1-invasion) but this illo has made me want to do more soon.

  • Brian Towers

I meant to reply to your very kind comments before now but was out of action for a while. As you say (don’t know your first name so will call you Bruce) we old folk still have a lot to offer – although at only 62 you’re still a spring chicken. I’ve had a quick look at your portfolio and am greatly impressed so will be spending much more time looking at your great variety of work. You’ll be on my watchlish within the next minute and I’ll look forward to seeing more of your paintings. Cheers Bruce.

Brian this is fantastic, the more I look at it the more I see. I just love those planets at the back of the scene!

  • Brian Towers replied

Thanks for those very kind words Ray. My space pictures have always sold quite well, but many poeple don’t care for them compared with regular landscapes. This one holds the record for comments so I’m beginning to wish I still had it. I might even buy it back as a print from RB. Are you underway with any painting? Hope to see you soon.

Hey Brian, you are a versatile lad huh…..I love SciFi, love air brush and I love acrylics. Love this painting too :)

  • Brian Towers replied

Thanks Heartco, that’s very kind of you, especially the ‘lad’ bit. Maybe it’s your kind of comment that keep this lad a bit younger.

  • Rutra

    Rutra

I love it. Another image reminiscent of the classics, very well done. This feels me with nostalgia.

  • Brian Towers replied

Well into my 70s, maybe I’m showing my age as an early space enthusiast. My interest was well established when ‘intellegent’ grown-ups told me that space travel was impossible – around the 1950s. I still go for realistic scenes rather than the too fanciful ones, the kind that allows the viewer to feel he can crawl through the frame and be part of the picture. Your style and the imagination in your work put you top of my list.
