Wedding belle and groom.
This commission is a Christmas present for a couple I don’t know which tends to make it harder to put ‘character’ into a portrait. Working from a photo, I’m hoping I’ve managed to get something they’ll be happy with.
Pastel painting.

This is truly unbelieveable! The tones are perfect, as are the features, and I love the way the light is bouncing off the hair and the skin. Her eyes are stunning! I am in awe! You are beyond talented! I would be ecstatic if this were for me! Truly ,truly just beautiful! This is what is so great about this site. The oppportunity to see work like this makes it worth it alone.

What a glorious present Brian, you preserve a lost tradition in art with your portraits, its wonderful, truly, as much as I love photography, a drawn portrait holds an energy which comes from the body and it makes a unique connection….more power to you….

Lovely pastel work, particularly impressive considering your working from a photo of people you don’t know and have still managed to capture the connection and emotion between the figures so well…

I agree with angel312. Who wouldn’t be delighted with a portrait like this. For the umpteenth time I have to say, “Well done!” Come on Brian … paint a rotten picture for us just to ease the routine of always looking at great paintings from Mr Towers – haha. By the way … the folds of his tie are brilliantly done.

Really nice work…I do the same kind of work….”Working in Pastel” are looking for people to put their work in if you haven’t already
Brian Towers replied
Many thanks Margaret. I’ve just put you on my watchlist after taking a quick look at your portfolio which is very impressive. Must go take a longer look. I’ll check out Working in Pastel group.
Alice McMahon ...
You should enter this in our pastel portrait challenge Brian! Breathtaking!
Brian Towers replied
Thank you Alice, I’ll go take a look.
Lynda Robinson
I don’t recall seeing this one before Brian. They must have been overjoyed! This is technically brilliant.
Brian Towers replied
Thanks Lynda. I sometimes wonder if ‘gift’s of paintings for people end up in the attic or outside toilet -(dunny?) I have a friend who keeps giving his awful paintings to relatives who then feel obliged to hang them bank on the walls when he is due to visit.
Lynda Robinson
Oh do stop making me laugh Brian!!!! You are probably right – I reckon quite a few artistic endeavours end up in dunnies!
Alice McMahon ...
Congratulations! This work has been featured in the group Contemporary Pastel Painters.
Brian Towers replied
Many thanks Alice, you’ve made my day.
Lynda Robinson
CONGRATULATIONS Brian. This painting is so deserving of being featured.
Brian Towers replied
Thank you kind lady – just for that I will frame the pin-up picture of you at the club.
