GAS BAGS

GAS BAGS

The joy of inventing your own worlds is there are no rules and anything goes. The photo of this painting is rather poor and the original has long gone.

Plants producing gas? They do it all the time on Earth, but on this planet it’s conveniently packaged for harvesting. Just think, we could have our own greenhouse gasses feeding our boilers.

Acrylic on board.

GAS BAGS belongs to the following groups:

Whenever anyone mentions gasbags I will think of you … sorry .. I mean of this lovely painting :) I’ve always thought your space scenes are fantastically good. They combine your highly-developed artistic skills with your incredible imagination. They are literally out of this world :)

  • Brian Towers replied

Why thank you Dave. You make me blush with embarrasment….but don’t stop.

I used to think gasbags were airproof trousers.

This is amazing stuff. The concept, implementation and the depth of the image is fantastic.

  • Brian Towers replied

Thanks Dave. I can’t remember selling this one but it has vanished – possibly in the loft. The photo turned out to be too dark and with harsh tones, and my efforts to computer ‘doctor’ it didn’t work too well. All just a bit of fun anyway.

  • Brian Towers replied

Thanks Derek. After what i did to you kids in those days it’s praise indeed to get your comments. I suspect the gasbag was me, although those school dinners had some bad effects on some pupils. Thanks again for the log deer – did you get my bubblemail of thanks by the way. Incidently. what a coincidence that your dad is Albert who we had many good chats with a year or two back. Cheers Dodger.

I like this style, Brian. It reminds me of those 50’s short stories, by Jack Vance, etc.

  • Brian Towers replied

Yes, so do I. I tend to like to change subjects for a bit of variety, from cartoons to portraits to space art – but it’s that last one which keeps tempting me. Just started a new one, and I think I have about 20 on RB up to now. Cheers Boris. Incidently, one of my favourite painters is the famous Boris.

A great painting sir. Like the balance of colours and the idea behind it, simply wonderful.

Such imagination has been the backbone of human invention…keep thinking, my friend…keep thinking!

  • Brian Towers replied

Much of what I do is with a sense of humour, never taking myself too seriously. I get a lot of satisfaction doing personal caricatures when I see the smiles they usually bring. Gas bags was a bit of fun, but who knows, they may exist somewhere. Cheers Les.
