MOUTH OF THE WANSBECK - NORTHUMBERLAND
This river has featured in several of my paintings at various parts of it’s length. As kids we spent most of our activities by it, in it and, too often, under it.
Oil on canvas about 16” x 14”

GEORGE SANDERSON
Magnificent, Mate !!!
I was at the Wansbeck Caravan Park Just last week It’s a nice quiet place yet so close to the busy town !
Brian Towers replied
Hope you had a paddle in the Wansbeck George – you didn’t happen to find a wellie I lost 65 years ago? Many thanks mate.
Jim Phillips
Wow, fantastic view and a beautiful painting Brian. There are some painting where all the elements just come together perfectly. The sky, water, reflections, colors, details in the landscape – what can I say other than you just nailed this one. Excellent work of art. Really well done.
Brian Towers replied
What an elegant comment Jim. I had this picture down as a ‘scraping the bottom of the barrel’ for want of something to stick in RB. Oddly enough, the sky right now is exactly as in the scene. Thanks for your kind words Jim.
Woodie
Hi Brian
I can’t add much to Jim’s comments but to say I love your Big Sky!!!
Cheers Neil
Brian Towers replied
Big skies are a speciality of mine, saves painting all that land and stuff. Thanks Neil. That very expensive windmill and its partner have never worked more than a few weeks. At least it was still while painting it.
Woodie
Hi Brian
Thought those 2 windmills were back on line after the cable had been repaired and buried this time to protect it!!
Cheers Neil
Brian Towers replied
The news some weeks ago said it was going to be fixed in a few days, but I haven’t seen ‘em turning and earning yet Woodie.
pat oubridge
Love this Brian, gorgeous
Brian Towers replied
As are you Pat, thank you.
SHEDART
Well i’m definately coming round very soon, another great one Brian but if you continue to be naughty i won’t let you “IN” on my little surprise when it happens, you may not have enough work left.
Brian Towers replied
OK, two cups of coffee to tell me what your surprise is Jim. Now I’m going to lose sleep wondering.
Linda Callaghan

SHEDART
You’ll soon find out and if your nice to me i’ll let you be the first “IN” and not the way you might think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BLYTHART
This is beautiful and makes me wish I lived in Northumberland …. mmmm …. but I do, don’t I :) Seriously, your paintings manage to make the North East look like somewhere we’d all love to live in.
Brian Towers replied
I read that they are to spend a lot of dosh on rebuilding the North Blyth – Cambois peninsular Dave. Wonder if it’s going to be another Disneyland. Yes, we have a lot going for us up’t north.
Colin Cartwright
A fine painting display of a summer idyllic world. And at the canny Waansbeck mooth!
I think it would work even better with some of the sky cropped out to make a landscape format.
Hidemi Tada
I wish I could paint like you Brian. If I could, I stop portrait and go out to paint landscape. It is getting my dream to paint a beautiful landscape like your paintings. wonderful work !
Brian Towers replied
I’ve seen a few of your city paintings and I think you have little to stop you. Whatever you paint, in the end it’s just different shapes. Go for it Hidemi.
apjenkins

You’re generous in your comments Madvlad thank you. I do like your profile as it sounds like you’re having a very interesting life based around art – especially your ‘wonders and blunders’. I’ve had a few of the latter. Cheers, friend.
