MARATHON MEN

MARATHON MEN

These mad men go on impossible trecks over mountains and – in this case deserts – and live and laugh to tell the tale. Oh to have their drive and energy!
A commission as a surprise present for these two gallant gentlemen.

Watercolour, ink and pastel.

  • Brian Towers replied

You’re definately on my Christmas card list Jim, thanks.

  • Tom Godfrey

    Tom Godfrey

You are brilliant Sir Brian. This is another fantastic poortoon.well done Sah! :)

  • Brian Towers replied

Most kind Gov’ – and I do hope that ‘poortoon’ is a typo error. Actually, I owe you one – if you’ll pardon the expression – for coming up with that new genre name.

  • Chris Willis

  • Woodie

    Woodie

    Another masterpiece Brian!!!

  • Brian Towers replied

Just read that it’s not PC to use the word masterpiece, might offend sensative ladies. Seems we should say classic art, but go ahead anyway Neil, I really don’t mind.

  • Linda Callaghan

    Linda Callaghan

what a fabulous painting – full of humour too, what a great surprise present I am sure they were very pleased!

  • Brian Towers replied

And what a fabulous lady for saying so Linda. While making fun of victims, I sometimes wonder if one will ever come and punch my lights out, not sharing my sense of humour.

  • Tom Godfrey

  • BLYTHART

    BLYTHART

I like the stubborn camel and the man about to get a bump on the head. The map of the Lake District implies they may be lost though. To be politically correct, must I say that this is another mistressship? By the way, looking at your reply to David Parkin, may I ask if “Lindisdarne” is where you get your woollen socks repaired? Chuckles …...

  • Brian Towers replied

Darne it! Another typo’. Well spotted in seeing the map. I was told Mike tends to take the wrong maps when on these long walks. Glad you enjoyed you and family enjoyed your holiday Dave.

This is really great work Brian just love your illustration work .Wish I could do as good would love to see you at work on these would be fascinating. Keep up the good work my friend.

  • Brian Towers replied

Thanks Alice. Most of these caricature start out as multi-lined sketches while I’m lounging with my feet up, not a pretty sight! The planning can take at least half the 6 to 8 hours in total so it’s nice to be realaxed much of the time.

  • apjenkins

    apjenkins

Doesn’t matter how you lounge about while you come up trumps all the time with great work

  • Brian Towers replied

It should be complusory to have at least one good giggle a day – might not cure haemorrhoids but it makes you feel better. Thank you Barb. Hope your Willy liked his…..portoon that is, not haemorrhoids.

  • BarbBarcikKeith

    terry dunnett

Nice work Brian – haven’t been on for a while having a check around – good to see you still doing such good caricatures – or ‘Portoon’s’ !

  • Brian Towers replied

Coincidence, I was just thinking I’d give you a bubblemail to see how you are as I’ve been missing your wonderful drawings – by far the best caricatures I’ve ever seen. Hope more are coming our way. And your kind comments are greatly appreciated.
