Helen's Tara

Helen's Tara

A commission, this dog was as handsome as they come and posed well for the photo I worked from. Hairy dogs do however take a lot longer than smoothies.

Mixed media original about 18” x 12”

Helen's Tara belongs to the following groups:

Animal Kingdom, Realist Traditional Art and Wildlife and Pet Paintings Available for sale as

Greeting Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints and Framed Prints

Hey Brian, I used to be a postman (mailman) – are you trying to frighten me. This is so realistic I want to give her a dog biscuit.

you are realy good at painting animals. I agree 100%, when I draw animals in pencil, long hair take longer. But my cat took the longest because the hair is so fine.

excuse my language, but holy christ! this is superb. i’ve tried painting animals before and the tediousness and delicacy of having to deal with each hair just always defeats me in the end. well done!

Thanks Linda. It’s a while since I had any commissions for dog portraits, but I did enjoy the challenge. Best bits are eyes and noses – hardest bit are all that hair.

    What a beauty, Brian !!!
I have a portrait of my late Alsatian, Lassie, done in pastels, my neice bought it from an artist in Eldon Square many years ago
Ive always admired it but its not a patch on this one !!!

  • Brian Towers replied

So, your dog was called Patch….no, I read that wrong! What a canny lad sayin’ such a canny thing George. I must admit to bringing these old pictures back to life by putting them in new groups.
