paused in emptiness

the hours of night change and drift

sometimes in motion, sometimes in stillness
my life crawls beneath my skin
swimming in my stomach
gripping the inside of every heartbeat

my insides are inside out
i am a harsh nakedness
standing cold and shivering,
stabbed with jagged edges
from the inside out
and from the outside in,
i am a stillness, paused in emptiness
where an inevitable unity
and all its strength
once lived

suddenly a loss of ground,
the absence of feeling
stopped the heart and
set the Soul sail in oblivion
and sent these moments to fill
an aching in my head
lift the weight from my shoulders.
an ache in my being
a question of everything
sends me fading into silence

I do think we all go there and really need to be there to crawl out on the other side of the abyss and into the light. Inevitable. xx
