sadness whispers in my ear
with a smile
brushing against that soft spot of flesh
the kind reminder of its purpose
on this most familiar of nights

let the ache and emptiness
show the way to light
and all things being one,
to smile upon the pain
and laugh,
that the message lies
within the heartache
seeing our reflection,
that we had so much to
learn
of how to leave the Self
and enter infinity.
that the tears,
the sleeplessness,
the blood dripping from open wounds,
are one with the light.
so i traveled to the night
when the stars were hidden
and the ground waited, so rigid and cold,
and laughing,
we saw the
peace within the pain.
