My First Macro Photo
OK… I’m coming out of the closet….
I have a confession to make….
I bought a macro lens (Tamron 90mm Macro).
As somebody that considers themselves a serious landscape photographer I feel like I have donned an anorak and now I’m a train spotter. I don’t know why, but I have never been overly interested in macro photography before ,but all of a sudden I felt the urge to try my creativity on a much smaller scale.
You won’t be seeing any flowers or insects from me, but I will be trying to bring some of the principles of large scale lighting and composition to the macro world.
I have to admit though that I feel very clumsy operating in the macro world where depth of field is measured in millimeters when I’m used to sometimes having infinite depth of field.
This is the first of a few exercises that I have set myself to try to understand the world of macro.

stunning photograph, beautiful macro, you must have an immense hidden talent
Brent Pearson
Hey thanks for your comments.
Nah, I wouldn’t say I have a huge hidden talent…. I have a pretty solid knowledge of photography and when I’m getting into something new, I research the heck out of it and start looking at styles that I like… I can then usually find tutorials that explain the techniques.
This way I fast track my learning. It was pretty frustrating working out the “tricks” to get a shot like this. But I was very happy with the result.

I have to admit… this Macro stuff does alter your behaviour….. I’m finding myself staring at weird things now…. Eating dinner and I’m admiring the texture of a lettuce leaf wondering what this would look like with back-lighting….. Or wondering around the garden and staring at the tiniest little sprouts of vegetation (I think the dog is even starting to get a little concerned by my behaviour).
Fun eh?
