Green Weed Cove

During Spring for a few weeks you get this really intense green weed hitting the Sydney coast line…. I loved the contrast and textures of the green weed against the blur of a long exposure (30sec +) of the ocean and a nice dramatic sky.

Excellent composition and exposure, how did you get your shutter speed down to 30 secs, my guess is, even at f22 in that light you would get a shutter speed of about 1/8 1/4 of a sec. Again I would guess at neutral density filters.

Looks like a ghostly Precambrian landscape, before the rise of large animals, when algae and jellyfish rule the seas. You can hear the silence.

I think that weed is called Ulva. An ephemeral algae that quickly gets eaten by all the local herbivores. I’m glad you showed us this moment before it vanished.
