Hi there! My name is Barbara and I live in Washington State – USA. My husbands name is Jeremy and my 7-year-old son’s name is Brendan.
Thanks for checking out my journal! I found redbubble purely by accident. My husband got fired on Thursday (6-21) right after we got back from vacation, so I was looking for a way to bring in some money to pay for my son’s trip to Nationals (more on Nationals below.) So anyway, I love photography and submitted some pictures to a stock photo site to sell hoping to just bring in a little extra. It didn’t go well. For example, the photo of the peacock I have in my portfolio was one of the ones I submitted. They suggested I take the photo again with the peacock in front of a white background. Ok, no problem, except I’m not going to drive 3 1/2 hours down to Portland Oregon again in order to go hunt down the peacock, place it in front of a white sheet, tell it to hold still, then try to get its picture. So I was looking for another way to sell my photos and ran across redbubble. I really like it here! I’ve had contact with a couple of people and everyone is really nice! Thank you so much! I’ve been under so much stress and its so awesome to talk to people who are supportive.
So, about my son’s Nationals trip. Well actually I should give you a little background on him first. He is a go-getter. He owns a business here in Washington where he makes cool craft things and sells them to make money for Nationals, his stuff is really cool and it sells pretty good at the craft fairs here around Christmas. He is also a really good skater, he started skating Jan ‘06 and even though he had just learned to skate he made it to Nationals last June as well. Bren is also homeschooled and even though he would just be finishing 1st grade he is working on 5th grade curriculum. Don’t be fooled though, a lot of people think that because of all he’s done he acts older, that is not the case at all. He is very much your everyday 7-year-old boy. I’m building his new website right now because I have problems with the host of his old one.
Well, we were on vacation to Oregon because he was competing in skating Regionals (this was the first competition my husband took time off in order to see by the way). Brendan ended up placing 1st in his figures event and tying for 2nd in his dance event so it was a huge deal and it was such a blessing to be together as a family. Now we get to head to Nationals in Omaha, Nebraska at the end of July.
This has been such a stressful year but I know that everything is part of God’s master plan though so I’m sure that if we are meant to go to Nationals then everything will work out by then. I’ll just keep praying.
If you’re of that inclination then please pray for my dad, he passed away in February.
Thank you for visiting and God Bless!
