rainbow cloud 11

Having seen many sundogs, I was at a loss as to what this should be called…except beautiful. The contrast was increased somewhat to make it more visible as it was really subtle.

This occurred around mid-day and appeared as a horizontal band of color, not part of a halo or arch of any length. It was captured in the area of Denton, Texas with a ground temperature of approximately 74 degrees F. on May 4, 2008.

Thanks to Ern Mainka, I know this is a CHA, Circumhorizon Arc.
