What a load...

I am getting seriously sick and tired of hearing Australian politicians repeating on and on how we emit “ONLY” 1.5 percent of world’s greenhouse gasses.

Well, here are my numbers, you make up your own mind.

Population of Australia: 21,779,230 – Source
World’s population: 6,784,073,287 – Source

Which means that we are 0.321 percent of the world’s population, which in turn means that per capita we emit around 5 times more that any other nation in the world.

Should somebody tell them, or should we keep it our little secret?

A happy day for real nerds!

A copyright question.

HI all,
Recently I took some photos (as a favour) at an exhibition opening. I supplied the photos to the artists with a copyright notice on the CD, name, details etc.
A few of the photos are going to be printed in a commercial publication.
I told the artist to go ahead and pass the photos on to the publishers together with the copyright notice and my details.
The question is:
Did I do the right thing? I would expect to be paid by the publishers of this Australia-wide, quite popular monthly, but I am not sure if they can just say that they got the pics from the artist and therefore a release to print?

Should I expect the publishers to contact me before printing, considering they have my name, contact AND the copyright notice?

Anyone with commercial experience, your help will be appreciated.

A friend, painter and a sculptor, soon to be a fellow redbubbler, is having his paintings exhibited at the “Blue Door Gallery” at the Gasworks.
The paintings are contemporary abstracts.

Come this Sunday between 10am and 5pm see the painting and meet the man himself.
Bring your camera too.

Anyone interested?
Should we make time? Lunchish?

Are you a water saver?

If you answered yes, you are a sucker! Yes, it’s sad but you are.
While the governments are attempting to make you feel guilty and responsible for the environment and the water disaster, they are wasting hundreds of litres a day.

I walk past the glorious cultural centre, the MCG, on a daily basis and everyday, morning and afternoon I see water sipping out of the ground and disappear into the drains. I can only assume that it is pumped underground to keep a few of the European (pest) trees alive during the drought (sorry, dryness) – yet another “Orwelism” brought to you by your government LINK
It truly is an Orwelian reality in which, you, me, us are made feel bad for showering or watering our pot plants while there is obviously enough water to let it be wasted.

An email from Jacinta...

Did anyone else get an invite to the opening of a new studio – gallery in Chapel street, Windsor (Melbourne)?
Just asking as they seem to deal with digital canvas printing and the ONLY connection I can think of is through RB…

A DISAPPOINTMENT?! A what?

My turn now!

Dear BID’ers.
It is my turn to pick the features for the group.
Firstly, thank you to all who contributed their works to BID. Sorry to those who’s work was featured and has been replaced. After a long debate with Col, we decided to replace currently featured works every time we take a turn picking features.
So, the current selection is entirely mine.
As I tend to do with visuals, I did not analyse the works, I did not (as much as possible) look at the author’s profiles and other works.
I just wanted to select 12 works which at this very moment impressed me, touched me, or just looked quirky and non-beige.
So here they are – the new features.

What an absolute hoot!

I found this little gem from Microsoft:

How lame, how ugly, how cheesy.
Microsoft obviously know how to target the cool urbanites of 21 century.
Also, please note the lamest of all attempt to cover up an Apple logo on the girl’s laptop HA HA HA!
So Microsoft, can’t design anything half decent and resort to pinching other’s designs and hiding the logos, that’s cool!

Is it April already?

“WASHINGTON (CNN) — Another major American industry is asking for assistance as the global financial crisis continues: Hustler publisher Larry Flynt and Girls Gone Wild CEO Joe Francis said Wednesday they will request that Congress allocate $5 billion for a bailout of the adult entertainment industry.
“People are too depressed to be sexually active,” Flynt said in the statement. “This is very unhealthy as a nation. Americans can do without cars and such but they cannot do without sex.”
