The stylised works of Logan artist Braidy Hughes will delve into an emotional and contemplative narrative, enticing thoughts of misadventure, love, self loathing, death and escape.
This small collection of 2011 works showcase the artists’ romanticism of the feminine and her grasp for stucture in the belief that we are all alone.
Opening night 6pm, Friday 12th August, at Logan At Gallery

“As an artist I tend to work best when I approach my work with as much childlike freedom as possible, and while I’m in the mind set of what could almost be described as methodical meditation… often lead by music, mischief & wine.
The women that I paint are, to me, fragments of contemplation, misadventure and heartbroken thought.
They spill onto the canvas when I am in my most quietly emotive state… when my mind is still but my heart screams out..
In my most recent, and ongoing series, these women have become intertwined prominently with goldfish.
These fish come in like a secondary character and often they take on a story to tell of their own."
