The temperature is 103°F. The electric fan is blowing on me from the end table next to the mattress, I am lying in my underwear, and Isolde, a 19-year-old white alleycat, is reclining comfortably on the summit of my left hip. Other cats lurk in the corners of the room. They’re younger than Isolde, but not nearly as wiry, tough, or determined.
I always wanted cats who could get along with each other. But I am a mountain where cats climb, and savor victory.

Thanks for reading it Marion…LA is a very temperate place, if it’s not sunny and pleasantly warm Angelenos are confused, regardless of the season. (Rain is expecially dangerous. It only happens once or twice a year, and people either drive the same speed as usual or 10 miles per hour…resulting in many horrible accidents.)

I know how you feel ! We had a heat wave in Los Angeles too ! My poor 14 year old cat, Cinnamon, could only cool off by laying on the kitchen floor. It is going to be a long hot summer I think !

Hi Donna, I’m in Los Angeles too. Thank goodness yesterday and today were cooler! So your cat Cinnamon is 14…that’s about the average age of my four! (12, 16, 16 and 19.) I hope it won’t be a long hot summer…but there’s always August and September to (not) look forward to.
