The Pitcarmick burn on the Cateran trail. The rivers are now mostly in spate as the snow melts in the mountains.

The Cateran Trail is a fully waymarked 64km circular route beginning and ending in Blairgowrie. The Caterans were marauding cattle thieves who flourished in the more lawless regions of the Highlands from the Middle Ages until the 17th century. More feared than wolves, cateran raiding parties numbered anything from 50 to 500 fierce warriors. Now it’s just the hikers who make use of this amazing trail.
