This is one of the birch trees I had to take down because I extended my house and this was too close to it. It’s a young tree self seeded. I still have one at the back of the garden.
This is in April/May when the new leaves have opened and the catkins are hanging. I loved this tree as it was so perfect. This is for you Al – Next Spring I’ll get an aspen in new leaf if I’m over in Minnesota – unless anyone uploads one before then. Best seen enlarged.

So sorry you had to take it down!! Makes a great card though! :-)

  • Thank you . I know but they grow about 2 feet a year and width wise as well – if I could have transplanted it I would – my other one is about 24 feet now – the birds love it and I have a nesting box in the centre. The bluetits have produced many young ones from there this year.
