Shad Factory - Beaufort, NC
This is my favorite photo!
I always remember the awful smell of the shad factory on the way to shackelford banks when I was a kid. I have wanted to photograph this place for while now and the other day was the moment, everything was just perfect.
I took this one with my 20D standing in a 16’ boat with no tripod….bracketed 3 frames and merged them in photomatix.

Yes it will be a good home to many people because they will be building condos in its place. Right across the creek there are wild horses on an island:)

oh.. condo’s how lovely… i like the shed, but im sure the people in the condos will love them and the horses, sound good and i hope for the horses its a big island to run lots on and feel free. Seems you photo captures history ( not the smell though) which in many many years to come will be very interesting to the people in the condos.

amazing. think it would be better without the vignette. still, awesome colors.

Thanks!! I admit the vignette is a little heavy…the HDR added some weird green artifacts around the outer area so I covered it with the vignette:)
