Of mountains and ponds...

Posted over 1 year ago

Last week I flew around Mt. Everest. I was up at 4am, in the air and back by 9. It was a surreal experience and decidedly anti-climactic.

I’m sitting in the Hong Kong airport now, sipping a beer and watching the sun set behind the hills. I flew here from Bangkok and will be home in Taiwan in 4 short hours. As I left Bangkok, I watched the countryside recede below me and I thought about the …

I Feel it All

I feel it all, I feel it all
I feel it all, I feel it all
The wings are wide, the wings are wide
Wild card inside, wild card inside

Oh I’ll be the one who’ll break my heart
I’ll be the one to hold the gun

I know more than I knew before
I know more than I knew before
I didn’t rest, I didn’t stop
Did we fight or did we talk

Oh I’ll be the one who’ll break my hea…

Whoo-hoo!

Posted almost 2 years ago

So, I entered a Screenplay contest in New York, and managed to come in second in my heat. The last and final round is to come… cross your fingers for me… and your toes. Round one was eight days to write a script on a random topic and plot point… round two, they cut the time to 24 hours. At noon on Saturday, the fun begins. Cross your friend’s toes too. Of course, the open road meant bugs in my teeth – note to self, close your visor BEFORE dusk – but that was a small price to pay. As I…

Quite possibly the best song ever...

I’m hooked. I cannot stop playing this song. Please give it a listen.

Stealing Tomorrow
by The Great Lake Swimmers

Is this place shaking or is it me
Why can’t I feel mean without you and everything become more true
The more that I believe in you
Stealing tomorrow

I don’t care what you think, I’m going to take it away

While I am stealing tomorrow from today
Stealing tomorrow from today
Stealing to…

Homecoming

Posted almost 3 years ago

Gladys comes home today. On Thursday, my loaner bike blew a front tire and threw me to the pavement at 60 kilometers an hour. It could have been worse. I walked away with a split helmet, ringing bell, sprained wrist and scrapes. A friend said I looked like I’d been mauled by a bear – but I’m a quick healer. I can move my left hand well enough to type already… and not a mom…
