Whilst staying at a campsite near Stragglethorpe in Nottinghamshire, England, we went on a short hike, walking along a path that took us across an abandoned railway track and along waterways that are part of the disused Grantham canal near Cotgrave Country Park. Though no boats travel up and down these waters any longer, it’s still a lovely stroll on a summers afternoon with places to sit and have a picnic and soak up the idyllic scenery. Walking along the canal and coming across these lovely locks sent my imagination back to the 19th century when this and many other canals would be bustling waterways. Looking at it now gives me a feeling of a Norman Rockwell painting. Please view it large and soak up the wonderful warm feelings.
