Whilst recently on holiday in North Yorkshire, I met up with very good friend, and fellow bubbler Paul McGuire for a morning shoot. We decided to take sunrise photos at Cayton Bay, near Scarborough, and only a short drive from where he and his family live. It was a very early start. I had to get up at 3:15 am in order to leave by 3:30 and meet up with Paul by 3:50, and then drive, park and hike down to the beach for that magic half hour before sunrise at 4:35. As the colour in the sky started to intensify, the magic began. The tide began moving in and washing across the stones, as the patterns in the sand are covered over by the red tide. Though it is hard to get up so early, it is so worth it when you have mornings like this. What a great time we had and to once again meet up with my friend.

Primarily a landscape photographer, my enjoyment of taking photos has developed from a young age. Originally from Texas, I now live in England and am surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery. I enjoy outdoor activities such as climbing, hiking, and camping. I am blessed with a wonderful wife and three terrific children. I am a strong Christian and I believe that my love of photography and any talent I posses in capturing images comes from God.

Simply perfect! The colours are extravagant, so beautify and surreal. It was definitely worth the early rising! An instant FAV – congratulations!

  • It was so very much worth it indeed. Thank you dearly. My computer has crashed and erased all my photos with it and I have been told that they can not be retrieved off the HD. I am really down. This is one of the ones that was lost. I only have it here on RB.

Stunning work! Your dedication to capture ‘that moment in time’ has sure paid off! A Very beautiful image. ;)

  • Such a wonderful compliment. Thank you truly. My friend and I spent time walking up the beach to see the gun posts left there during WW2. What a marvelous beach. You should have a look at Paul’s shots, not only of that morning, but also from other times. He lives close by there, and he has some great shots.
