"A Historical View" by Bradley Shawn Rabon

This is another lovely view of the junction King William street and Cornhill road, at the statue of Wellington, when friend and fellow RedBubbler George Parapadakis and myself visited London for the first Face2Face UK meet. This is a bit wider view taking in the the Royal Exchange building (behind the iconic London black cab), the Bank of England museum, and the former London Stock Exchange building (the tall one in the background). The shadows were very heavy in the area so a clean shot was virtually impossible, which is why I chose to shoot for a HDR image. Both the Bank of England museum and the Royal Exchange are Grade 1 listed buildings.

This is a (hand held) HDR image combining 3 bracketed shots using Photomatix Pro for Macs. Adjustments in lighting and contrast were made using the enhanced details tool.

Primarily a landscape photographer, my enjoyment of taking photos has developed from a young age. Originally from Texas, I now live in England and am surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery. I enjoy outdoor activities such as climbing, hiking, and camping. I am blessed with a wonderful wife and three terrific children. I am a strong Christian and I believe that my love of photography and any talent I posses in capturing images comes from God.

Love the inclusion of the London cab!!
There are so many lines in the pic – great work!

  • Thank you so very much my friend. I was really very lucky with the cab to be honest. He stopped at a red light and now other cars around (very unusual) so I took it quickly, I didn’t have time for the tripod. I appreciate the compliment.

Love the pigeons!!! Oblivious to the traffic around them. This is soooo London! LOL Well done my friend.

  • Thank you greatly my friend. I know that it is a very “busy” photo, but it felt like all the bits were in the right place… busy in their own space if you know what I mean. Anyway, I am pleased you like it. I had a fabulous time and I can’t wait till the next time we can go out again.
