"A New Dawn - Our First Sunrise of 2010" by

Taken on 1/1/2010

I just wanted to capture the first sunrise of 2010. I went out this morning to find the perfect landscape to compose my sunrise photo. The morning mist and cold hung heavy in the air. The clouds were starting to get thick and I thought I wouln’t get a chance to see the sun rise. Then, about 10 min before the sun rose, the skies began to clear. I stopped at a bend, just before the bridge into the village of Kelham, in Nottinghamshire, not far at all from Newark where I live. In the distance is the Sugar Factory, one of the few left in England, and one of the main employers around here. The rising steam from the sugar production and the ice puddles in the foreground sets the scene beautifully. What a glorious morning. Here is wishing you a very Happy and Prosperous New Year. God bless.

Primarily a landscape photographer, my enjoyment of taking photos has developed from a young age. Originally from Texas, I now live in England and am surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery. I enjoy outdoor activities such as climbing, hiking, and camping. I am blessed with a wonderful wife and three terrific children. I am a strong Christian and I believe that my love of photography and any talent I posses in capturing images comes from God.

  • Thank you so very much my friend. I was up early but found myself waiting for quite some time. It was very very cold. My hands were numb after a few minutes.

Fantastic way to bring in the New Year photographically my friend!!

  • Thank you once more. The idea was to have the last sunset and the first sunrise, but I missed the sunset because Ruth and I were driving back from IKEA and I didn’t have my camera. GRRRRR! Oh well, this worked well.
