"The Sound of Music" by

This lovely 1930’s wind-up Selecta Gramophone sits in the front room of our friends home in Painswick, Gloucestershire. This wonderful antique sits comfortably next to the bookcase and give the room so much character. After so many years, this beautiful piece of furniture still plays confidently today. The front doors of the gramophone open up to reveal the bellows allowing air to enter and exist. I can imagine this piece sitting on the table on a summers evening with the windows open and the lovely melodious music of Glenn Miller playing out. Ahhh! Those were the days, weren’t they!

This is a HDR image combining 3 bracketed shots using Photomatix Pro for Macs. Slight adjustments in lighting and tone were done using the enhanced details tool.

Nice light and good angle to present this magnifique old gramophone.

  • Thank you so very much. It is a gorgeous piece of furniture. It just fits into the character of the cottage here, with all the natural and earthy tones. I really appreciate it.
