My wife and I have been trying to sort through some old things at her old home in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. Recently, we set out to tackle the attic, getting rid of the old things we don’t need any longer and to keep those special things that bring to mind lovely memories of growing up in this house. I wanted to capture the treasure trove of memories before disrupting it. To me, there is something magical about an attic. I remember as a child playing in an attic of one of my friends’ house. What a fantastic time we had discovering lost treasure, fighting off pirates, and zooming through space and time. There are so many journeys still to be taken. I guess age shifts our perceptions from the pretend to the practical. I hope this image does for you what it does for me, a momentary capture of the realm of the ‘pretend’ and that you feel that magic once more.

Wow!!! A certain treasure trove for photography most definitely!!!
LOVE those two suitcases and the rocking (donkey?) and the cage!!!
Almost feel like I’m a part of those selective focus pics that makes everything look toy-like
It was a brilliant space (before we cleared it out…. cry). I so appreciate the compliment my dear friend.

This is really great Shawn, who’d have thought to find such a subject for this image tucked away in your attic, so full of charm and fond memories. Wish my loft was as tidy as this, we collect so much along the way ’eh, clearing mine is another job I keep putting off :) Great use of HDR too, lovely work my friend :)
You think this is tidy? Thank you greatly my friend. I have always wanted to take a good attic shot. I am pleased this one worked so well. I appreciate the wonderful compliment.
