Whilst out walking in St Aubin village which is part of St. Brelade’s parish, I came across this lovely cottage which is very typical for Jersey. These granite built homes are lovely and warm feeling. They are often ones that have been around fro some time, and perhaps have be restored and modernised but keeping their rural country feel. The one thing that leads me to believe that his is an older property is the worn gravel and grass path which looks well worn and the age old tree growing in the front garden. This cottage has been here a while, but has probably been fixed up and made more modern. I can imaging this home in the 18th and 19th century, with a horse and cart out n front. A lovely, nostalgic feel.

This is a HDR image combining 6 bracketed shots, using Photomatix Pro for Macs, and adjusting some tones and lighting in Enhance Details as part of Tone Mapping.

    Beautiful shot Shawn!

  • Thank you Nat, very much indeed! A lot of the houses in the area and on the island for that matter are just as beautiful. It would be so cool to live in one of these amazing homes.

I must admit I have a thing about stone houses with climbing vines. A real case of “nature’s reclamation” here, it dresses up the house and it makes it so much an integral part of the scenery! Very nice capture.

  • You and I both. Thank you my friend. It is much appreciated.

Wow!! I love the window above the door!! Completely swallowed up – LOL!!
As usual Shawn – your HDR work is perfect!!

  • You are so wonderfully encouraging. I noticed that as well. I wonder if someone was looking at me out the window when I was taking the shot. I appreciate the compliment on my HDR work.

Oh I just want to walk up that lane and into the door and have a peek around. Such a lovely cozy scene and so well captured Shawn….awesome HDR work as always :)

  • I am sure that if you had been here with me, you probably would have gone up and took a peek inside. Then the cops would be called and the courts….. then I would have had a great story to tell…. Anyhow, thank you greatly my friend.

    Nice shot… beautiful home!

  • Oh my dear friend. I have not seen you in a while. I hope you are well. Thank you greatly for the compliment. It really is a beautiful home. I could have spent the entire day photographing all the lovely homes in this village by the sea. Perhaps I will on my next trip.

Nice shot and a beautiful old house .

  • Thank you kindly. I love all the old granite houses on the island. I have some friends that used to live in one, and it is fascinating to see inside.

Please remember to enter this challenge

  • Thank you my friend. I have entered a photo, but not this one. I entered my thatched roof one, as it is HDR as well. I really appreciate it.
