Some time back, I visited Newstead Abbey in Notinghamshire. It is the former home of the writer Lord Byron. We had a nice family day out, walking around the grounds and into the designed gardens. I took this shot in the Japanese garden. I had to lay down on the muddy bridge to get this shot and several more like it, but it was worth getting dirty. Primarily a landscape photographer, my enjoyment of taking photos has developed from a young age. Originally from Texas, I now live in England and am surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery. I enjoy outdoor activities such as climbing, hiking, and camping. I am blessed with a wonderful wife and three terrific children. I am a strong Christian and I believe that my love of photography and any talent I posses in capturing images comes from God.

Wow! Makes me want to visit Newstead Abbey now :) It’s just beautiful…the red and green foliage frames the waterfall nicely.

  • Thank you greatly Ursula! I really appreciate it.

    Beautiful colours and perfect shutterspeed.

  • Thank you so much Hans. I just kept sooting till I got the right exposure, and then took loads with the settings. I am very pleased with how they turned out. I think there is one other from this set I want to download.

This is breathtaking Shawn! The image is so crisp and the colours vivid, yet it retains this smooth quality rendered by the slow shutter speed. Everything is in perfect balance, including the composition, and I really like the smoothness of the pon’d surface above the fall. It’s a fabulous shot and I can’t wait to see the others when you upload them. :-)

  • What a beautiful compliment Johanne. Thank you so very much! It has really brighten my day.

I like the composition very much, and if this was handheld at 1/4 second – pretty impressive

  • Thank you so much. I appreciate it so much. And yes, it is hand held, but I also have an Image Stabilizing lens.
