The Cinque Terre (CHINK-weh TAY-reh) is a group of five small picturesque fishing village which cling to the Ligurian cliffs along Italy’s western coast on the Italian Riviera between Genoa and La Spezia.

“Cinque terre” means “five lands” in Italian and is comprised of five villages: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore all nestled along on the Mediterranean coast of Italy.

This photo of the ruins of the giant statue of Neptune, built in 1910, was taken in Monterosso al Mare.

    Hi Bob
I did an RB search of the coast of Italy, as I’m going in October. I found your portfolio filled with well composed images and was so pleased to see your excellent eye captured interesting angles, light and shadow. In particular I Favorited your image of the carving of Neptune at Cinque Terre, one of my planned destinations. Did you have to hike far to see this view? I would love to be able to see it in person!
