This mink is taking her meal back to one of her dens. I’m not as close as this photo makes it appear, and this mink has seen me many times in the past. She knows that I am not a major threat, but I still was relieved when she altered her course!! LOL

This photo was taken within the Adirondack State Park in Upstate, NY.

Excellent capture, I have only seen one Mink in the wild, what a beautiful animal.

  • Hard to believe you have only seen one. Of course, I am on the water a lot and they do like to hunt the shoreline. This is the best time of year to see them for they are out looking for mates and easy to see against the snow background.

Fantastic to see him with his dinner! I have yet to see one of these in the wild. What fun it has to be. Great shot.

  • Ice fishermen leave unwanted perch out on the ice and the mink take advantage. Thanks, Chris.

Chow down. A terrific catch, & you can interpret that any way you want. And I’m sure you will.

  • If these mink find 50 perch on the ice, they will take every one of them one at a time back to their den. Must smell really nice in that den as the weather warms!! Probably smells better than a mink though. They smell worse than skunks!!!

Wonderful shot, Brian. Well seen, well taken! Nice sized perch, too. I’ll take a pass on visiting the den, though, I think.

  • I can’t even imagine what that den must smell like..Mink Heaven! LOL
