Another image from my 11 day backpacking trip around Mt. Rainier on the Wonderland trail. This picture is of Mt. Rainier reflected onto part of the Reflection Lakes (aptly named :) ).

Very good Michelle.
Could you have got slightly closer to the river and thereby got the top of the mountain in the reflection? This would also give more impact by cropping the sky.

So much activity in the reflection, the air transformed in all that distance. Beautiful place. Your long backpack trip sounds fabulous.
A friend was in a town with that view for a wedding, startled to find she’d been sitting at the hotel window staring for over an hour, the mountain in constant change, not wanting to miss a thing. Beautiful photograph.

You really captured the feeling of being near Mt Rainer late in the summer. My guess is that it was taken sometime in late August or perhaps early September. Keep hiking and taking great pictures, It doesn’t get much better then that. Sometime when your on a hike in the mountains or anywhere else try shooting some pictures in the early morning or late afternoon to evening. The low angle of the sun will give you deep rich colors with depth in the shadows. These are good times to get real dramatic shots. Anyway have fun and keep up the good work.

Beautiful! Just moved east a few years ago and what I miss more than anything is driving around Tacoma and seeing Rainier on a daily basis. Thanks for the good memory.

Oh, my, what a gorgeous shot!! We were visiting Mt. Rainer last year, and looking at the brochure, these are the kinds of scenes I was hoping to see, but, alas, in May, it’s still all snow there! We DID get to see the top of the mountain, through all the fog, for about 5 mins., though! This is soooo beautiful!! I get to see it through YOUR eyes!!
